Synopsis

We are thrilled to perform in Phi Beta Kappa Memorial Halls Glenn Close Theatre for our upcoming production of Gilbert & Sullivan's award-winning comic opera, The Pirates of Penzance! In it's 145th year of being performed, The Pirates of Penzance was the fifth Gilbert & Sullivan collaboration. In 1981, the opera was modernized by Joseph Papp to be performed on Broadway and later converted to the 1983 film-adaptation. We look forward to sharing this timeless story with you!

After turning 21, young Frederic leaves piracy behind and falls in love with Mabel, the daughter of the Major-General. Unfortunately, due to a technicality with his leap-year birth date, he discovers that he is still bound as an apprentice to the Pirate King. Chaos and hilarity ensue as Frederic struggles with his sense of duty, leading to a clash between the pirates, the Major-General, and a group of policemen.
